The picturesque grounds surrounding Aschbach Castle currently contain 50 falcon volaries over an area of more than 3000 m². Here, selected breeds produce more than one hundred offspring annually. The peregrines and saker falcons and gyrfalcons are artificially inseminated. The cross-breeding of the various species produces hybrid falcons offering unique advantages for hunting. Using a specially developed breeding and training program, Baron Nicolaus von Pölnitz has succeeded in breeding falcons in captivity to the level of wild-trapped falcons.
